Home Decor Is About What You Like
Your home decor can be just as simple or elaborate as your personality allows. Your home should reflect your personality. It's your home; you should feel comfortable in your home. The decor you choose is basically an accumulation of accessories and furnishings. There are different types of home decor. Each Type describes the room in which it's situated. Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom, Living Room and even Patio/Deck and Garden. A simple way to approach any decorating project is to think about the things you like, or places that you've been that evoked your senses or that made you happy. What were the color schemes? Was it a Tuscan vacation, with the colors of the Tuscan Wine Country? Was it an event such as Mardi gras, with the bold royal colors of gold, purple, reds and greens? When choosing any home decor, choose the colors that you love, and use them throughout the home and garden. You might chose a theme, such as Asian, African, Moroccan, Mexican,French or any other place on the globe. Each country has their unique style of decor. Each country has their unique colors that are prevalent in their styles.
The second step would be to determine your primary colors and your accent colors. A room can consist of basically one color with slight shade variations. This would be called monotone design. It could also have several colors that compliment one another, but there will always be a dominant color and less dominate color or accent. Accessories can be used as accent color or just as an addition of something you love in the room. Accessories are plants, pillows, vases, figurines, lamps tables, or in short, anything that's not your basic furniture. It's been said that accessories to a room is like jewelry to a woman. It makes the room stand out. You should never get uptight about how to decorate. Never let another person dictate to you what works and doesn't work in your home. Their tastes may be different than yours. Just use what you love. If you just can't seem to pull it together as you'd like, find a good interior designer that listens to what you want and will work with your budget. It's your home, so enjoy it!
